When I was little I used to roll up the carpet in my parents’ front room and dance to MTV and my dad’s old vinyl records. In my teens, an enthusiastic drama teacher introduced me to contemporary dance and Kate Bush. I later trained as a dancer and spent ten years performing and teaching both in the UK and internationally. 

A hip operation led me to Pilates and I was so amazed by the results that I decided to train as a teacher myself. I qualified with Body Control Pilates and completed further training with The Centre for Women’s Fitness and Jenny Burrell. I am passionate about helping people to understand the mechanics of their body, so they can move well and prevent injury.

I’d always taught pre and postnatal Pilates and fitness, but it wasn’t until I had my baby boy that I really understood what it was like. I was amazed at how little advice is given to women on looking after their bodies through pregnancy and how to recover well after childbirth. I decided to make it my mission to learn all I could about pregnancy and the female body and pass this information on to fellow mothers!

That’s why I set up Bump Stretch Move. I want to give women the information they need to make empowered decisions about their birth and postnatal recovery. Birth doesn’t have to result in injury or pain, and with the right knowledge women can give their bodies what they need for longer-term recovery.
